Teams

With a focused cohort of 13 to 15 students, this advanced studio is ideally sized for collaborative, team-based BIM workflows. We will divide the class into 4 to 5 teams of 3 students each. This team size is perfect for Autodesk Revit Worksharing, as it allows individuals to take ownership of distinct architectural elements (e.g., one student on the historic envelope/facade, one on core/structure/circulation, and one on interior programming/exhibits) without overwhelming the central model.

👥 Studio Structure & Review Dynamics

  • Revit Central Model Collaboration: With 2 to 3 students per team, we can effectively learn professional Workset management. Students will experience real-world coordination hurdles, synchronizing their local files to a central model and managing element ownership.

  • Review Time Management: Pin-ups and presentations for 4 to 5 teams will easily fit into our 2:00–5:20pm window. Each team can be allocated a generous 30 to 40 minutes (15-minute presentation + 20-minute discussion/critique), leaving time for an all-studio wrap-up at the end of class.

🏢 Workset Assignment & Individual Accountability

To ensure equal contribution and prevent “model hijacking,” each team member must take primary ownership of a specific architectural and technical scope. While design decisions should be collaborative, students will be graded individually on the execution of their assigned Worksets:

  • Student A (Envelope & Context): Responsible for the historic 1912 facade preservation geometry, new curtain wall profiles, custom mullion families, and site/zoning envelope massing.

  • Student B (Core, Structure & Circulation): Responsible for the structural grid, columns, floor slabs, primary vertical circulation (stairs/elevators), and MEP plenum coordination.

  • Student C (Interior Programming & Exhibits): Responsible for interior spatial layouts, room data definitions, custom parametric family creation for the educational/memorial spaces, and finish schedules.
