Commision & Tasks

Commision & Tasks

Students are commissioned to fully redesign/reimagining the existing structure within the strict parameters of current New York City zoning/building code regulations. Your objective is to stretch your architectural imagination to create a forward-thinking, community-centric institution that honors the profound legacy of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz
while  serving the evolving needs of the Washington Heights community.

Methodology & Software Stack

This studio operates through collaborative design teams working primarily in Autodesk Revit (BIM) to develop, coordinate, and execute your architectural vision. It is not an introductory Revit course; students are expected to arrive with foundational BIM proficiency. Because Revit remains the industry standard for architectural production, the studio places strong emphasis on hands-on teamwork within a shared BIM environment. While it does not replace a dedicated BIM curriculum, the studio offers a practical, project‑driven immersion into a wide range of BIM tools and emerging AI‑enhanced workflows that elevate productivity and design capability.

Secondary Tools: Teams may incorporate Autodesk Forma, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, and Twinmotion to support supplementary drafting, advanced geometric modeling, and rendering tasks.
